Welcome

MP 755
-
When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.
-
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
save in the death of Christ my God:
all the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.
-
See from His head, His hands, His feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down:
did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?
-
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were an offering far too small,
love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.
-
Prayer
"Father forgive them"
Listen: When my love to Christ grows weak
“Truly I tell you”
Listen: If that isn’t love
“Woman here is your son”
“My God, my God why have you forsaken me”
Listen: He looked beyond my fault
“I am thirsty”
“It is finished”

-
O sacred head, once wounded,
with grief and shame weighed down,
how Kingly head surrounded
with thorns, Thine only crown!
How pale art Thou with anguish,
with sore abuse and scorn!
How does that visage languish,
which once was bright as morn!
-
O Lord of life and glory,
what bliss till now was Thine!
I read the wondrous story,
I joy to call Thee mine.
Thy grief and bitter passion
were all for sinners’ gain;
mine, mine was the transgression,
but Thine the deadly pain.
-
What language shall I borrow
to praise Thee, heavenly friend,
for this, Thy dying sorrow,
Thy pity without end?
O, make me Thine for ever,
and should I fainting be;
Lord, let me never, never
outlive my love to thee!
-
Be near me, Lord, when dying;
O show Thy cross to me;
and, for my succour flying,
come, Lord, to set me free:
these eyes, new faith receiving,
from He shall never move;
for he who dies believing,
dies safely through Thy love.

All I once held dear,
built my life upon,
all this world reveres,
and wars to own,
all I once thought gain
I have counted loss;
spent and worthless now,
compared to this:
Knowing You, Jesus,
knowing You,
there is no greater thing.
You’re my all,
You’re the best,
You’re my joy, my righteousness,
and I love You, Lord.
-
Now my heart’s desire
is to know You more,
to be found in You
and known as Yours,
to possess by faith
what I could not earn,
all-surpassing gift
of righteousness.
Knowing You, Jesus,
knowing You,
there is no greater thing.
You’re my all,
You’re the best,
You’re my joy, my righteousness,
and I love You, Lord.
-
Oh, to know the power
of Your risen life,
and to know You in
Your sufferings,
to become like You
in Your death, my Lord,
so with You to live
and never die.
Knowing You, Jesus,
knowing You,
there is no greater thing.
You’re my all,
You’re the best,
You’re my joy, my righteousness,
and I love You, Lord.
