1. MP 37 As the deer pants

    1. As the deer pants for the water,
      so my soul longs after You.
      You alone are my heart’s desire
      and I long to worship You.

      You alone are my strength, my shield,
      to You alone may my spirit yield.
      You alone are my heart’s desire
      and I long to worship You.

    2. I want You more than gold or silver,
      only You can satisfy.
      You alone are the real joy-giver
      and the apple of my eye.

      You alone are my strength, my shield,
      to You alone may my spirit yield.
      You alone are my heart’s desire
      and I long to worship You.

    3. You’re my friend
      and You’re my brother,
      even though You are a king.
      I love You more than any other,
      so much more than anything.

      You alone are my strength, my shield,
      to You alone may my spirit yield.
      You alone are my heart’s desire
      and I long to worship You.

  2. MP 281 I lift my eyes

    1. I lift my eyes
      to the quiet hills,
      in the press of a busy day;
      as green hills stand
      in a dusty land,
      so God is my strength and stay.

    2. I lift my eyes
      to the quiet hills,
      to a calm that is mine to share;
      secure and still
      in the Father’s will
      and kept by the Father’s care.

    3. I lift my eyes
      to the quiet hills,
      with a prayer as I turn to sleep;
      by day, by night,
      through the dark and light
      my Shepherd will guard His sheep.

    4. I lift my eyes
      to the quiet hills,
      and my heart to the Father’s throne;
      in all my ways,
      to the end of days
      the Lord will preserve His own.

  3. MP 1008 I will trust in you

    1. The Lord’s my shepherd, I’ll not want.
      He makes me lie in pastures green.
      He leads me by the still, still waters,
      His goodness restores my soul.

      And I will trust in You alone,
      and I will trust in You alone
      for Your endless mercy follows me,
      Your goodness will lead me home.

    2. He guides my ways in righteousness,
      and He anoints my head with oil,
      and my cup, it overflows with joy,
      I feast on His pure delights.

      And I will trust in You alone,
      and I will trust in You alone
      for Your endless mercy follows me,
      Your goodness will lead me home.

    3. And though I walk the darkest path,
      I will not fear the evil one,
      for You are with me, and Your rod and staff
      are the comfort I need to know.

      And I will trust in You alone,
      and I will trust in You alone
      for Your endless mercy follows me,
      Your goodness will lead me home.

  4. MP 746 What a friend we have in Jesus

    1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
      all our sins and griefs to bear!
      What a privilege to carry
      evervthing to God in prayer!
      O what peace we often forfeit,
      O what needless pain we bear
      all because we do not carry
      everything to God in prayer!

    2. Have we trials and temptations?
      Is there trouble anywhere?
      We should never be discouraged:
      take it to the Lord in prayer!
      Can we find a friend so faithful,
      who will all our sorrows share?
      Jesus knows our every weakness –
      take it to the Lord in prayer!

    3. Are we weak and heavy-laden,
      cumbered with a load of care?
      Precious Saviour, still our refuge!
      Take it to the Lord in prayer!
      Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
      Take it to the Lord in prayer!
      In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
      thou wilt find a solace there.

  5. MP 932 Standing on the promises

    1. Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
      through eternal ages let His praises ring:
      ‘Glory in the highest!’
      I will shout and sing,
      standing on the promises of God.

      Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Saviour,
      standing, standing,
      I’m standing on the promises of God.

    2. Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
      when the howling storms of doubt and fear assail
      by the living word of God I shall prevail,
      standing on the promises of God.

      Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Saviour,
      standing, standing,
      I’m standing on the promises of God.

    3. Standing on the promises I now can see
      perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
      standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
      standing on the promises of God.

      Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Saviour,
      standing, standing,
      I’m standing on the promises of God.

    4. Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
      bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
      overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
      standing on the promises of God.

      Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Saviour,
      standing, standing,
      I’m standing on the promises of God.

    5. Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
      listening every moment to the Spirit’s call,
      resting in my Saviour as my all in all,
      standing on the promises of God.

      Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Saviour,
      standing, standing,
      I’m standing on the promises of God.

  6. MP 279 I know whom I have believed

    1. I know not why God’s wondrous grace
      to me has been made known;
      nor why - unworthy as I am –
      He claimed me for His own.

      But, ‘I know whom I have believed;
      and am persuaded that He is able
      to keep that which I’ve committed
      unto Him against that day.’

    2. I know not how this saving faith
      to me He did impart;
      or how believing in His word
      wrought peace within my heart.

      But, ‘I know whom I have believed;
      and am persuaded that He is able
      to keep that which I’ve committed
      unto Him against that day.’

    3. I know not how the Spirit moves,
      convincing men of sin;
      revealing Jesus through the word,
      creating faith in Him.

      But, ‘I know whom I have believed;
      and am persuaded that He is able
      to keep that which I’ve committed
      unto Him against that day.’

    4. I know not what of good or ill
      may be reserved for me -
      of weary ways or golden days
      before His face I see.

      But, ‘I know whom I have believed;
      and am persuaded that He is able
      to keep that which I’ve committed
      unto Him against that day.’
