1. Welcome and Intimations

  2. Prayer and Lord’s Prayer

    Our Father, who art in heaven,
    hallowed be thy name;
    thy kingdom come;
    thy will be done;
    on earth as it is in heaven.
    Give us this day our daily bread.
    And forgive us our trespasses,
    as we forgive those who trespass against us.
    And lead us not into temptation;
    but deliver us from evil.
    For thine is the kingdom,
    the power, and the glory
    for ever and ever.
    Amen.

  3. CH4 161 O God, Our Help in Ages Past

    1. O God, our help in ages past,
      our hope for years to come,
      our shelter from the stormy blast,
      and our eternal home.

    2. Under the shadow of Your throne
      Your saints have dwelt secure;
      sufficient is Your arm alone,
      and our defence is sure.

    3. Before the hills in order stood,
      or earth received her frame,
      from everlasting You are God,
      to endless years the same.

    4. A thousand ages in Your sight
      are like an evening gone,
      short as the watch that ends the night
      before the rising sun.

    5. Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
      bears all its sons away;
      they fly forgotten, as a dream
      dies with the dawning day.

    6. O God, our help in ages past,
      our hope for years to come,
      be our defence while life shall last,
      and our eternal home.

    2. Exodus 1: 8-2:10 (Rebecca Hislop)

  4. CH4 85 Now Let God’s People, Let God’s Israel

    (Psalm 124)

    1. Now let God’s people, let God’s Israel
      witness the truth and gratefully proclaim:
      when evil folk against us made their claim,
      we would have drowned beneath their violent tide
      if God the Lord had not been on our side.

    2. If God the Lord had not been on our side
      and thus maintained the justice of our cause,
      we would have died, devoured by evil jaws,
      where kindled anger lusted after blood
      while vicious torrents raged beneath the flood.

    3. Blest be the Lord both now and evermore
      who did not grieve us on the evil day,
      who did not leave us as an easy prey
      destined to be so mercilessly torn
      by savage teeth and unrelenting scorn.

    4. Just as a bird escapes the fowler’s snare,
      we leave our broken trap and are set free.
      Now we are saved and now, as one, agree
      our help is in the name of God our Lord,
      maker of heaven and earth, eternal Word.

  5. Meditation

  6. CH4 710 I Have a Dream

    1. “I have a dream”, a man once said,
      “where all is perfect peace;
      where men and women, black and white,
      stand hand in hand, and all unite
      in freedom and in love.”

    2. But in this world of bitter strife
      the dream can often fade;
      reality seems dark as night,
      we catch but glimpses of the light
      Christ sheds on humankind.

    3. Fierce persecution, war, and hate
      are raging everywhere;
      God calls us now to pay the price
      through struggles and through sacrifice
      of standing for the right.

    4. So dream the dreams and sing the songs,
      but never be content:
      for thoughts and words don’t ease the pain:
      unless there’s action, all is vain;
      faith proves itself in deeds.

    5. Lord, give us vision, make us strong,
      help us to do your will;
      don’t let us rest until we see
      your love throughout humanity
      uniting us in peace.

  9. CH4 286 Tell out my soul

    1. Tell out, my soul,
      the greatness of the Lord!
      Unnumbered blessings
      give my spirit voice;
      tender to me the promise of His word;
      in God my Saviour
      shall my heart rejoice.

    2. Tell out, my soul,
      the greatness of His name!
      Make known His might,
      the deeds His arm has done;
      His mercy sure, from age to age the same;
      His holy name, the Lord,
      the Mighty One.

    3. Tell out, my soul,
      the greatness of His might!
      Powers and dominions
      lay their glory by.
      Proud hearts and stubborn wills
      are put to flight,
      the hungry fed,
      the humble lifted high.

    4. Tell out, my soul,
      the glories of His word!
      Firm is His promise,
      and His mercy sure.
      Tell out, my soul,
      the greatness of the Lord
      to children’s children
      and for evermore!
